A young American, recently settled in Oradea, has collected over 300,000 views on TikTok after telling how impressed he is with life in Romania and the high-speed internet.
In a video published on TikTok, Martel told what impresses him about his new life in Romania. The young man explained that his American friends were skeptical about the standard of living here.
“When I moved to Romania, many people asked me if I have electricity, if I have Wi-Fi, and if there are grocery stores near the area where I live. People who live in America and have never been to Romania see this place as a country where the quality of life is poor, which we all know is not true. You live here and you know that is not true!”, said the young man, in a video that has gathered over 300,000 views, according to Click!
Martel reported that his first visit to a fitness room in Oradea deeply impressed him, especially due to the technology used for access.
“I’ve been to the gym, and there’s a facial scanner to get you in. There’s actually a scanner that scans your face. I’ve never been to a gym in the US where I’ve seen a facial scanner. Never. There’s more technology here than I would have imagined.” he said.
The young man was also amazed by the fast internet connection, pointing out that Romania is among the countries with the fastest internet in the world, contrary to the perceptions of his friends.
“The monetary system is different from the US, but everything else is extremely good. It’s crazy how people think you live in the wasteland. Actually, Romania is the country with the fastest internet in the world, am I wrong? It’s true!”“, added Martel.
Martel also started to learn the Romanian language in order to integrate more easily into the community.
