The National Broadcasting Council decided to sanction the station Realitatea Plus with the suspension of the broadcast for three hours, on February 19, as a result of repeated violations of the audiovisual legislation found last fall. The decision was taken at the CNA meeting on Wednesday, according to information published by PaginadeMedia.
According to the CNA decision, between 18:00 and 21:00, Realitatea Plus will not be able to broadcast the usual programs, and will only show the text of the sanction. Council members established this measure after analyzing the content broadcast for ten days, between November 1 and 21, 2025, before the official start of the election campaign for the Capital City Hall.
In total, ten shows were considered problematic by the CNA. Some of these were carried out in the public space, with the presenter Anca Alexandrescu talking to citizens on the street, while others were debate shows in which harsh attacks were launched against the Government and the Presidency, without respecting the principle of journalistic balance.
During the CNA meeting, Mircea Toma harshly criticized the way in which some of these programs were carried out. “What’s happening is not journalism,” he stated, pointing out that in one broadcast, AUR leader George Simion’s speech was broadcast for 28 minutes without any critical intervention from the moderator. “From my point of view, it is a dangerous, unconstitutional speech. Of course, they are political statements, he is free to say. But as a journalist, should you not have any reaction to statements like: “we don’t want parties”, “AUR is not a party, it is a force of the people”?”Toma added.
CNA also retained other statements considered serious, such as accusations that the Government “he wants to depopulate the country” or claims according to which the president Nicușor Dan would have intervened in justice by welcoming the bringing of Horațiu Potra into the country.
The sanction was adopted with a majority of votes, the only members who opposed being Georgică Severin and Lucian Dindirică. At the end of the meeting, Severin qualified the measure as right “extremely tough”.
