A volunteer firefighter equipped his car with light-acoustic signals. He went on a mission and refused to stop at police signals

A volunteer firefighter from Galati county installed light and acoustic signals on his car like those used by the vans of state institutions. He went on an errand and on the way he refused to stop at the signals of the police. The images appeared in the public space, and the volunteer firefighter was sanctioned.

The County Police Inspectorate announced that the incident took place at the beginning of February on a road in Galati county.

“On February 3, 2025, around 3:30 p.m., a crew from Section 5 of the Rădești Rural Police, traveling to an event in the village of Căuești, detected in traffic, on DJ251J, a car driven by a 56-year-old man from the town of Drăgușeni, traveling from the town of Fundeanu to Căuești”, IPJ Galati transmitted.

The driver of the car with the prohibited equipment refused to stop at the police’s request justifying that he was on a mission.

“The driver of the respective car would not have respected the light signals of the police vehicle, namely the obligation to stop or facilitate its passage, and would have mounted, in the upper part of the vehicle, two devices with blue lights and a sound device, similar to those used by the police, gendarmerie or ambulance, without having the legal right to use them, according to the 2024 Performance Criteria regarding the establishment, framing and endowment of voluntary services and services private for emergency situations”, IPJ Galati added.

The 56-year-old man received a fine of 3,037.5 lei and lost his driving license for 120 days.
