The Ministry of Education and Research announced on Thursday, February 19, that it approved the programs for the Romanian language and literature discipline for the 9th grade, high school education.

According to a press release sent to Agerpres, the following were approved:

– School curriculum for Romanian Language and Literature / Class IX / Common Core (TC) – theoretical stream, real profile, all specializations; the technological sector, all professional profiles and qualifications; vocational stream, artistic, military, pedagogical, sports and theological profiles, all specializations.

– School curriculum for Romanian Language and Literature / Grade IX / Common Core + Specialized Curriculum (TC + ​​CS) – theoretical stream, humanistic profile, social sciences specialization.

– School curriculum for Romanian Language and Literature / Grade IX / Common Core + Specialized Curriculum (TC + ​​CS) – theoretical stream, humanistic profile, philology specialization.

“The documents are the result of the integration by the members of the working group for the discipline of Romanian language and literature of the observations and proposals received at the National Center for Curriculum and Evaluation (CNCE), within the Ministry of Education and Research, both during the period when school program proposals were submitted to the institutional transparency process, and afterwards”. it is shown in the press release.

The thematic descriptions for the five modules have been removed

From the “Literature” content area, the thematic descriptions for the five modules have been removed, leaving teachers the freedom to select the aspects they consider appropriate depending on the profile and level of the class.

The names of the literary forms related to the five modules have been simplified

Also, the names of the literary forms related to the five modules have been simplified, to allow teachers to choose, from the list of recommendations, the authors and works they consider relevant.

“The organization of the contents is not exclusively governed by the chronological criterion, but is simultaneously articulated according to thematic, cultural, aesthetic and discursive criteria, as well as in relation to the progressive development of reading, interpretation, contextualization and critical reflection skills“, states the Ministry of Education and Research.

The current form of the programs for the 9th grade is designed to meet the expectations regarding a modern and flexible curriculum document, in accordance with European best practices, which reflects a current vision on the teaching of the Romanian language and literature, explains the Ministry.

The programs for the 10th, 11th and 12th grades are also to be finalized

In the coming weeks, taking into account the experience gained in developing the programs for the 9th grade and in the process of revising and harmonizing the various points of view expressed, the working group will finalize the programs for the 10th, 11th and 12th grades, thus shaping the overall picture of the study of Romanian language and literature in high school education, the Ministry of Education mentions.

The programs will be published first in the Official Gazette and later on the CNCE website
