“PHOENIX – Story without words”, the album about the legendary rock band, signed by Cristian Radu Nema, nominated for the Culture of the Year Awards

The art album “PHOENIX – Story without words”, signed by Cristian Radu Nema, is nominated for the 2025 Culture Year Awards for the best Visual Arts project of the year. The release of the album took place at the Hard Rock Cafe last spring and was celebrated with an extraordinary concert by the band Phoenix, in the presence of important personalities from the Romanian cultural space.

On that occasion, those present had the chance to see on display the iconic vest of Nicu Covaci, the founder and soul of the Phoenix phenomenon. The album launch also took place in Brașov, at Rockstadt, in the presence of Ovidiu Lipan Șăndărică, on which occasion the audience also watched the film “PHOENIX – Povestea”, directed by Cristian Radu Nema.

The Culture of the Year Awards in Brașov is an initiative that aims to provide public recognition to the most valuable cultural-artistic events, productions and initiatives from January 1 to December 31, 2025. Printed under the auspices of the Official Monitor of Romania, the album captures the essence of the cultural phenomenon intertwined with decades of contemporary Romanian history. Created in collaboration with Nicu Covaci, the band’s founder, the album reflects his desire to tell the story of Phoenix only through images, through a visual journey that marks the most important moments of the band that redefined rock music in Romania.

Created by director Cristian Radu Nema over a decade of interactions with band members, the album contains 650 original images from personal archives, most of which have been published for the first time
