After making a laughing stock by drawing 0-0 with Metaloglobus, last placed, FCSB played this evening with UTA, the play-out leader. Mirel Rădoi’s students beat hard, 1-0, and exchanged places in the ranking with their opponents from Arad.
FCSB and UTA are the main contenders for the first position in the play-out, the two teams will probably play the play-off for qualification in the Conference League. The “big derby”, as it was ironically called by the red-blue rivals, was clearly dominated by the champion team, but the great opportunities were missed by the Transylvanian team.
Three national team strikers, one goal
The only goal of the game was scored by David Miculescu (56), the former player of the Arada team scoring after a successful launch by Darius Olaru, on the only shot on goal dispatched by the champion. UTA had the biggest opportunity in the 13th minute, when the goalkeeper Matei Popa saved the forward Marius Coman, newly called up to the national team. When it comes to the first national team, of the three strikers called for the match against Turkey, Miculescu, Bîrligea and Coman, only one managed to score.
Mirel Rădoi thus obtained his first victory in his second term as coach of the FCSB team. So far, the new technician of the red-blues has managed to clean up the defense, while the attack is creaking from all joints.
It was the fourth meeting between the two teams this season. If FCSB took the lion’s share and won three matches in the Superliga (two in the regular season and the current season), instead UTA prevailed 3-0 in the group game of the Romanian Cup.
