NIBIRU, the over 50 million euro entertainment project that will be launched by Selly in Costinești, is preparing its debut with a surprise name on the poster, Dan Negru, who becomes the ambassador of the new resort, according to Libertatea. Between the vision of the young entrepreneur, who promises “over 1,000 jobs”and the confessions of the TV presenter, NIBIRU is emerging as one of the most ambitious initiatives on the Romanian coast.
The project will officially open on July 16, in Costinești.
Designed as a “festival city”NIBIRU will host concerts, shows, themed areas, relaxation spaces and daily events throughout the summer.
Andrei Șelaru (Selly), co-founder of the project, told the cited source that the investment exceeds 50 million euros and is made entirely of Romanian private capital.
“There will be more than 1,000 jobs created. The total investment amounts to more than 50 million euros. Only money from Romanian investors, 100% private capital”Selly stated.
NIBIRU will run for 46 days with a continuous program of events. International artists announced for this summer include Timbaland, Busta Rhymes, Fat Joe, Hugel, Ozuna and Nicky Jam.
Selly says the project aims to raise the standards of the entire coastline: “The impact will be felt on the Romanian coast. From the infrastructure, to how the accommodations look, absolutely everything.”
The biggest challenge, he says, was acquiring the necessary land.
Promenade, daily shows and themed areas
The NIBIRU Promenade will be accessible for free, with a minimum consumption of 25 lei, and will include more than 30 restaurants, shops, sports areas, spaces for families, an amusement park, the Planetary Museum and the TaranTerra reptile exhibition.
On the central stage – NIBIRU Center Stage – there will be daily shows: concerts, acrobatics, pyrotechnic shows and special productions made together with the director Răzvan Ioan Dincă. Confirmed Romanian artists include INNA, Delia, Theo Rose, Carla’s Dreams, Antonia, Alina Eremia, The Motans and Irina Rimes.
The project also includes ticketed areas: stand-up comedy with Micutzu, Bordea or Drăcea, Nuba Cafe and NIBIRU Brewery, a 1,000-seat venue with themed evenings and live concerts.
Dan Negru, ambassador and presenter at NIBIRU: “We can bring people the kids don’t know”
Shelly has already announced the ambassador of the resort: Dan Negru, who will also present part of the events.
The presenter explained, for the cited source, that he was attracted by the idea of bringing forgotten Romanian personalities back to the public’s attention:
“We can bring in people that kids think they don’t know. Do you think I know Prunariu? Or that the first ATP number 1 in history was a Romanian?”
Asked who he wanted to bring to the NIBIRU stage, Negru gave an emotional answer:
Do you want me to tell you the man I would have brought here? Be careful. I am one of his criminals. And her name is Mădălina Manole (…). He asked me on the street: “Dan, why don’t you call me on TV anymore?”… I would have called Mădălina.”
Asked what he would do if he had to start his life over:
“I would never do radio or television again. At this moment, anyone is a journalist, anyone with a camera. He’s gone. That’s it.“
