Ilie Năstase, 79 years old and recognized for his support of FCSB, watched the team’s progress in the current Superliga season with disappointment. The red-blues did not qualify for the play-offs and thus do not have the opportunity to defend their championship title.
Asked about his preferences for the winner of the championship, Năstase stated that he would like Craiova University to lift the trophy, considering that the team from Bănie deserves, after 35 years, to win its first championship title.
Craiova University is currently in second place in the Super League play-off, accumulating 33 points, tied with the leader U Cluj, after the first two stages.
“I would like it to be Craiova champion. I like the way they play, I like the front players that are there. I think she deserves to be champion after so many years. Craiova was a big team when I was younger!“said Năstase, present at the Țiriac Open conference.
The next important match for the team from Bănie will be in the third stage of the play-off, when they will meet, at home, the CFR Cluj team, in a duel that will be decisive in the fight for the title. The game is scheduled for Monday, April 6, from 8:30 p.m.
