Romanians are already starting to look for cozonaci, pasca and cakes for the Easter table. In this context, ANSVSA offers some recommendations on what we should check before buying such products.
Because Easter is fast approaching, Romanians are starting to prepare their shopping lists for traditional meals, which do not lack fresh pastries, pasca and homemade cakes. But to enjoy them safely, the National Sanitary-Veterinary and Food Safety Authority (ANSVSA) recommends some simple and effective rules.
“The smell of fresh-from-the-oven scones and homemade cakes are, for many of us, the soul of the Easter table. So that you can enjoy these treats safely, we want to share with you some tips on how to choose the best products for your loved ones.” ANSVSA representatives sent on Facebook, Sunday, March 29.
Where we buy our sweets and pastries
The authority recommends the purchase of cakes, pasca and cakes only from authorized or sanitary-veterinary registered premises.
“Only in these units do we have the certainty that hygiene norms are respected, from preparation to sale”, specifies ANSVSA.
In addition, the institution recommends paying close attention to the offers available on social networks.
“Beware of offers on social networks! We know that offers on Facebook, TikTok or Instagram can seem tempting, but we advise you to be extremely cautious. Food bought from unauthorized people, who cook in uncontrolled premises, can be a real health risk. Without rigorous control, there is a danger of contamination with dangerous bacteria, such as Salmonella or Listeria.” warn the representatives of the authority.
Important checks in stores
Buyers are advised to pay attention to the following when purchasing products:
* Integrity of the packaging: it must be intact and clean;
* Labelling: the product must contain all identifying information, including the expiry date and details of the manufacturer;
* Product protection: Sweets and pastries that are not packaged must be protected from dust and handled under strict hygienic conditions.
