Constantin Toma, the social-democratic mayor of the municipality of Buzău, launched on Thursday, on Antena 3 CNN, harsh criticism of the PSD leadership, stating that the formation “it goes to the head” and that there is a risk that the party will go out of government “and never come back”. The mayor confirms that he supports Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, after Sorin Grindeanu, his party leader, called him a “Bolojanist”.
The statements come in the context of internal consultations initiated by Sorin Grindeanu regarding the future of the PSD in the governing coalition.
“There is a possibility that the PSD will leave the government and never enter again. This dangerous game that Grindeanu is playing, putting the country in a very difficult situation, cannot be accepted by anyone”said Toma, citing the economic and energy crisis.
The mayor stated that he supports the Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, confirming the statements of Sorin Grindeanu, he stated on Wednesday that, during the six PSD regional meetings, only one person supported the continuation of the government in its current form. “We also have our Bolojenist, obviously, Toma de la Buzău”, alluding to the mayor’s sympathy for the administrative model promoted by the prime minister.
“Right now I’m with Bolojan, because he’s the only one who plays for this teambad”, Constantin Toma admitted on Thursday.
Toma, message for PSD colleagues: “It’s not good what we’re doing, we’re going to our heads”
Toma criticized the lack of the national budget, emphasizing that Romania has been in a difficult situation for four months.
“There are many colleagues who think like me and they told me clearly: What we are doing is not good, we are going to our heads. The party is going to our heads and dragging the country with it”. declared the mayor of Buzău.
“PSD is in for a bad fate if it follows what Mr. Sorin Grindeanu urges”
We remind you that, also on Thursday, the social-democratic mayor declared for Agerpres that “there are many colleagues who support the current situation in the sense that Bolojan should remain prime minister because he is doing a good job”:
Maybe he had some excesses, maybe, I know, he is not an extraordinary communicator, but he is the right man in the right place, in these wrong times, because he is the first man who after 1990 tries to save Romania’s situation and create a better future for this country.(…). At this moment, people say that the PSD is both in the government and in the opposition. If he leaves the government, he will no longer be evident either in the government or in the opposition, because in the opposition the majority is AUR together with its allies. So the PSD is in for a bad fate if it follows what Mr. Sorin Grindeanu urges”.
