The women’s handball team CSM Bucharest, qualified for the Final Four of the Champions League, announced, on Monday, on its official website, the transfer of extreme right winger Matilda Sofia Forsberg, starting with the next competitive season.
The Swede who plays in the Florilor League, at Gloria Bistrița, signed a contract for the next two years with CSM Bucharest. Born on February 26, 1998, Forsberg is a “right winger famous for her speed and efficiency in attack, being a handball player who excels on the counter-attack, being also very effective at finishing from difficult angles”, CSMB describes it.
“I am very happy that I can continue my handball journey in Romania. In general, I am impressed by the dedication, energy and passion Romanians show for handball, the game they love. When I was approached by Bojana (Popovic) and the team at CSM, I felt very honored and privileged – considering the history and victories of CSM over the years. Moreover, I grew up with the Swedish mentality of ‘doing my best in all situations’ (developing as an individual and adding energy to my team), but with the atmosphere of being part of a winning culture and promoting it.
I look forward to achieving a lot with Bojana, the rest of CSM Bucharest management, my new teammates, to achieve the goals we have set for the coming seasons, to share our success, to bring love and joy to our supporters“, said Matilda Forsberg at the signing of the contract.
Matilda Forsberg has in this EHF Champions League season a percentage of 76% (22 goals from 29 shots) in the 8 matches played for Gloria. He also played at a high level at Savehof and is coming to CSM Bucharest where he will play alongside two colleagues from the Swedish national team, Tyra Axner and Jenny Carlson.
“We are happy to welcome Matilda to our team and are confident that her potential and sporting qualities will contribute to the achievement of the team’s goals. We wish him welcome and good luck in the CSM Bucharest shirt!“, said Aurelia Brădeanu, team manager of the team.
