A new ranking of holiday destinations for 2026 shows that Europe dominates the list of the most relaxing places in the world, with the Greek islands at the top of the list, which are also among the most favorite holiday destinations of Romanians.

The study analyzed more than 160 international destinations, taking into account factors such as tourist density, climate, natural landscapes, pace of life, safety, accessibility and cost. The result shows that 8 of the top 10 positions are occupied by European destinations, especially Greek islands and regions.

In first place is the Greek island of Alonissos, in the Northern Sporades archipelago, followed by Kefalonia and the Peloponnese. The top continues with Skopelos and Lefkada, confirming Greece’s dominance in the ranking, according to express.

Mani Peninsula and Naxos are next, while the only non-European destinations are Thailand’s Koh Yao Noi and Spain’s El Hierro, along with the Greek island of Paxos.

Overall, the top is dominated by Greece, which occupies the most positions in the ranking, strengthening its reputation as an ideal destination for tourists looking for peace, nature and authentic experiences, away from the crowds of big resorts.
