A tourism expert recommends three accessible and spectacular European destinations in Europe for the summer of 2026 appreciated for their varied landscapes, but also for their excellent value for money.
Tourism expert Simon Calder recommends three European destinations considered spectacular and affordable for the summer of 2026, given that the cost of holidays has become an essential criterion for many tourists. Montenegro, Portugal and Bulgaria are presented as options that combine varied landscapes, authentic experiences and relatively low prices.
Simon Calder says Montenegro remains one of the most underrated destinations in Europe, despite offering some of the most spectacular coastal scenery.
The country is especially appreciated for the Bay of Kotor, described by tourists as straight “a jewel of the Mediterraneani”, where fishing villages and medieval towns lie between steep mountains and calm waters of the Adriatic, writes express.
On Tripadvisor, a tourist said that Kotor is one of the “the most beautiful places” that he had ever seen.
“The bay is gorgeous with hills and mountains all around. There are many viewpoints. The cities are beautiful, with red roofs”, said a tourist.
“What a spectacular view. The Bay of Kotor is like a fjord. It is located in the Adriatic Sea and is included in the UNESCO heritage. The natural beauty is amazing, with Mediterranean landscapes, mountains and rocks in contrast with the historical buildings.” said another tourist.
Regarding Portugal, the expert emphasizes the diversity of the destination, from the capital Lisbon to the resorts on the Atlantic coast.
“I love Lisbon, one of the most beautiful capital cities in Europe, as well as the areas on its west coast – Cascais, Estoril and Sintra”, said the tourism expert. It also draws attention to the Setúbal Peninsula, a lesser-known area but with high tourist potential.

Bulgaria is presented as one of the most advantageous destinations from a financial point of view, ideal for tourists who want cheap holidays without making major compromises in terms of quality.
