Sorin Ion, Secretary of State in the Ministry of Education and Research, spoke about the situation of students who were not assigned to high school in the first stage of admission, although they obtained high averages in the National Assessment, and explained what else they can do.
The explanations come after a graduate with an average of 8.82 (Romanian 8.45, mathematics 9.20) was not allocated in the first stage of high school admission, along with 125 other candidates, three of whom have averages above 8.
The main cause is the insufficient completion of options or the choice of specializations for which the admission average was not realistic, the official explained to Observer News.
“The main reason is that the number of options is too low, compared to the admission average. Even if we are talking about children in the range of 7-8 or below grade 5, the reason is the same: they put too few options or they put unrealistic options. Fortunately, for these children, there is also the second stage. Maybe not the most satisfying for each of them, but there are definitely places in high school”declared Sorin Ion.
126 students remained unassigned
According to the data published by the Ministry of Education, 126 candidates did not get a place at the high school in the first stage of the computerized allocation. Among them there are also students with high averages, the highest being 8.82, 8.37 and 8.00.
In total, almost 119,500 students were assigned to the 9th grade, which represents 99.89% of the candidates who completed the option sheets. Of these, more than 74,000 were admitted to the first option.
The second stage of admission follows
Those who were not allotted in the first round will have another chance at the computerized allotment scheduled at the end of July and in the month of August.
Applications for the second stage of admission are submitted between August 10 and 12, and the distribution of candidates is scheduled for August 17 and 18.
The results of the computerized assignment for the 8th grade graduates were published on the admitere.edu.ro website and displayed on school notice boards, and candidates can find out the assigned high school by entering the individual code received at the National Assessment. The process revealed both outstanding performances and situations where relatively high averages were not enough for a first-round spot.
We remind you that the highest averages (10) went to “Gheorghe Lazăr” National College (3 students) and “Grigore Moisil”.
