A study dedicated to de-bureaucratization is being carried out by the Institute of Education Sciences in schools, which will show what administrative tasks teachers have, through which mechanisms they become burdensome and in which periods they are crowded the most, announced the Minister of Education, Sorin Costreie.
According to him, an opinion survey will be carried out on a sample of 180 educational units, to which directors and teaching staff will respond.
The results of the study could be made public at the end of this year or the beginning of next year.
“Where does all the paperwork ‘come’ from in schools? It started well this week, with a theme that particularly concerns me: debureaucratization. We have a study underway dedicated to this topic, it is carried out by the Institute of Education Sciences and it starts from the question ‘Where does the load come from?’. I think that is the question we have to start with, because, frankly, we do not yet know exactly where the load comes from: from the methodologies that come from the ministry, from the requirements of the inspectorates, from other institutions, from the procedures in schools or from habits that have been added over time? I’m happy to look for answers together with those who know best: the teachers, the directors, the inspectors. The study will show what administrative tasks the teachers have, through which mechanisms they become burdensome, during which periods they are crowded the most”, Costreie wrote on Facebook on Monday.
The minister specified that focus groups with teaching staff and interviews with principals were carried out and the quantitative stage follows, with an opinion survey on a sample of 180 educational units, to which principals and teaching staff will respond. School inspectors will also be consulted.
“Then we will be able to see, realistically, what can be simplified. I have always wondered what a school with less paper would look like. We probably won’t give up all the documents, but each extra paper takes away from the time a teacher needs for the children and for his own reflection. And a teacher who has no time to think can’t teach students to think. The results will be made public, and based on them we will eliminate or simplify what is useless. The estimate is that at the end of this calendar year – the beginning of next year we will have the results of the study. Thank you to the Institute of Education Sciences for the opening!”, the Minister of Education said.
