Trabzonspor fans stormed the pitch and clashed with law enforcement after their team lost at home to Fenerbahce (2-3) on Sunday in Turkey's first football league.

'Fener' led 2-0 at the break, after the goals of the Brazilian Fred (13, 45+4), the hosts restored the tie after the successes of the North Macedonian Bardhi (63) and the Egyptian Trezeguet (78, penalty), before the Belgian Michy Batshuayi to score the winning goal for the guests. The tension grew in the stands and Trabzonspor supporters started throwing objects on the field.
Fenerbahce players huddled in midfield to celebrate the win after the final whistle, while a fan entered the pitch and started brawling with Bright Osayi-Samuel, who, according to video footage, struck first with the fist Batshuayi was also seen punching supporters as law enforcement prepared to intervene.
Dozens of other fans entered the pitch as law enforcement tried to form a shield to escort the Fenerbahce players off the pitch.
Coach Ismail Kartal (Fenerbahce) said his players did not provoke the fans and that his team was attacked, while Trabzonspor coach Abdullah Avci opined that the end of the match and the incidents were upsetting.
Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said on Platform X that the authorities have launched an investigation into the post-match incidents to identify the supporters who trespassed on the pitch.
These new incidents come after a number of other controversies in the Turkish league this season, including an attack on a referee by a club president (Ankaragucu), the postponement of the Turkish Cup final, scheduled for Saudi Arabia, and several protests against arbitration decisions.
