This week, American travel journalist Dale Peterson, who has so far visited nearly 60 countries around the globe, wrote an extensive article for traveloffpath.com on the top European destinations currently in high demand. She also analyzed, as part of the documentation, the volume of destination searches on Kayak.com, one of the world's leading search engines for travel services.

And Bucharest was placed on a very good fifth place in the top of fashionable destinations in Europe for American tourists.

“Bucharest, the capital of Romania, is a very popular destination, with a 30% increase in searches on Kayak this year. I have been to Bucharest, I love this city and in my opinion it is one of the coolest cities in Europe. The city has a vibrant atmosphere and a very interesting mix of Romanian and Art Nouveau architecture combined with communist architecture. It is a lively city. And from Bucharest you can easily start exploring the rest of Romania, such as the beautiful and legendary region of Transylvania. In addition, it is easier than ever to get to the capital of Romania, because there are non-stop flights from New York to Bucharest”writes Dale Peterson.

Famous cities that Bucharest has surpassed

Bucharest has surpassed cities such as Madrid and Frankfurt in this top of the trending destinations.

On the fourth place in this new top was the Swiss city of Zurich, while the third place was occupied by Budapest, the capital of Hungary.

Vienna, the capital of Austria, consistently remains one of the most sought-after and appreciated destinations in Europe, ranking second in the list.

And the city ranked first in the top European destinations is a surprising one. It is about Tirana, the capital of Albania.

“This dynamic and very interesting city is a true undiscovered gem, but rapidly growing in popularity. It's an extremely interesting city to explore on foot, and it's also very cheap. Tirana is definitely one of the cheapest destinations in Europe, both in terms of accommodation and food”states American journalist Dale Peterson.
