The photographer Rareș Beșliu brings the wild life of Romania in a unique exhibition at the Antipa Museum

The “Grigore Antipa” National Museum of Natural History is hosting on Thursday, May 16, from 6:30 p.m., the opening of the temporary photography exhibition “Romanian emotions”, a project created in partnership with the artist Rareș Beșliu. Entry to the event is free, and the exhibition will be part of the visiting circuit until August 4, 2024.

The event will take place in the presence of Dr. Luis Ovidiu Popa – general director of the “Grigore Antipa” National Museum of Natural History, the curator of the exhibition, artist Rareș Beșliu, journalist Mona Nicolici and Maria Gheorghiu, President of the OvidiuRO Association.

Although in the last year Rareș Beșliu photographed more of the north of the world, focusing on the arctic areas, where the world melts with the eyes, Romania was and will always remain the country where he fell in love with nature and wildlife photography. Here he experienced the thrill of discovering wild life – a new world for him, speechless, but captivating and full of stories.

To think that animals have no emotions is like thinking that we are alone on Earth. After spending so much time with them, I'm convinced that they feel the same as we do, even if their cheeks don't get red and their hands don't shake, even if they don't have wrinkles to frown or voices to say “I miss you “. Anyone with eyes (or a good lens) can see them frolicking, fluffing their feathers, dancing, clawing, grinning, giving gifts, barking, screaming or even howling. Living things speak to us through what they do, through their actions, through their interaction with the habitat that supports their existence.

“Romanian emotions”, the first temporary exhibition of the Antipa Museum about wild life in our country, includes 30 photos of animals that are also found in Romania. The images are part of the “emotions” album, where readers can find the complete stories of the animals captured by Rareș Beșliu, but also many other frames with animals from more distant corners of the world.

During the opening, Rareș will launch the photo album “emotions” – paperback edition. It is a book with the same content as the hardcover version of the album, but smaller in size. The album can be purchased from the Antipa Museum at a promotional price. You can learn more about Rareș Beșliu's album on the photographer's official website.
