“The CSAT should judge the priorities, which is the choice between participating in the effort to stop the Russians or not participating. I think it would be a big mistake for Romania, especially since any Russian victory means an additional risk for Romania's national security – and not only Romania's. The former head of state also explained that Romania does not have to dispense with the only operational Patriot system, but can give one of the systems in the process of operationalization.

The former president is of the opinion that a refusal by Romania to the request of the US president would be a “political and military error”. “Nobody says we're giving away this Patriot system for free.
