Belgian Dutch-language television channel VRT briefly interrupted the broadcast of the Israeli artist's performance in the second semi-final of the Eurovision music competition, displaying on the screen a call for an urgent ceasefire in Palestine, Soir newspaper reported.

This is a humanitarian action. We condemn the violation of human rights by the State of Israel immediately,” viewers in Flanders (the northern Dutch-speaking region of Belgium) could read on their screens instead of broadcasting a speech by an Israeli contestant late Thursday night.

On May 9, in front of the headquarters of the VRT television station and the French-language television channel RTBF, anti-Israeli protests took place with calls not to broadcast the Israeli Eurovision performance, in particular citing the fact that Russia, from what the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine in 2022, did not participate in this competition.
