The cable car in Sinaia is one of the most expensive in Europe. For comparison, a cable car ride in Italy, on the picturesque Aosta-Pila route, costs 8 euros (40 lei) per person, while the return price for the cable car at Cota 2000 in Sinaia is 119 lei/person.

A family of four from Constanța went on a one-week trip to Italy in July. And on one of the days she also went to the superb resort of Aosta, being surprised by the extremely low prices of the chairlift compared to Romania.
“I took the cable car from Aosta, from the altitude of 579 meters, to Pila, at the altitude of 1,801 meters. And when we were told the price of a ticketI thought I misunderstood: 8 euros return for an adult and 6 euros return for a child. Very cheap and perfect conditions. In Sinaia, it’s cheap at cable car prices. I went in February and paid 119 lei for a round-trip adult for an adult and 75 lei per child up to Quota 2000. It’s not normal at all. The Sinaia authorities want to make a profit at any cost, it’s a joke. You see, it’s three times cheaper to go by cable car to one of the coolest resorts in Italy compared to Sinaia”says Viorel Bărbulescu.
“Adevărul” checked the prices on the official websites for cable cars, both in Aosta and Sinaia. And the statements of Viorel Bărbulescu are fully confirmed.
How much is a cable car ride from Sinaia to Cota 1,400 and 2,000 lei?
A climb to Cota 2000 with the Sinaia chairlift costs, for adults, 119 lei round trip, while for children, the price is 75 lei. It must be said that at the Sinaia chairlift the rate of 75 lei up to Cota 2000 is only valid for children between 5 and 12 years old, those over 12 paying the adult price. This, while at the chairlift in the Italian resort of Aosta, the rate of 6 euros round trip, more than twice lower than in Sinaia, is valid for children aged between 8 and 14 years, while for minors under 8 years of age access is free.
