A director of the Cluj “Avram Iancu” International Airport specified, in his wealth declaration, massive receipts from bets in recent years. His gambling winnings even exceeded his annual salary income.

Dan Nicolae Nicorescu, the operational director of Cluj Airport, won hundreds of thousands of lei from bets in the last two years, reports the Clujenii publication.
The state-owned company official declared such income in both 2024 and 2023, according to its wealth declarations. During these years, Nicorescu won over 460,000 lei from bets.
In the declaration of wealth, submitted in May 2024, available on the airport’s website, he said that he obtained income of approximately 160,000 lei from two gambling companies, the earnings being above the annual salary obtained at the airport, of over 100,000 lei.
A year before, in May 2023, Nicorescu, who then held the position of head of office at the airport, declared income of over 300,000 lei, also from two gambling companies, while his annual salary was approximately 85,000 lei, according to the 2023 wealth declaration.
