Commissioners from Consumer Protection temporarily stopped the operation of a center for the care of the elderly, located in Siliştea Snagov commune, Gruiu village, Ilfov county. and applied fines in the amount of 25,000 lei.

“The County Commissariat for Consumer Protection (CJPC) Ilfov carried out a control action at a care center for the elderly in Siliştea Snagov commune, Gruiu village, Ilfov county, to check how the provisions of the law are respected in the field. Following the important irregularities found, the Ilfov CJPC commissioners applied the following sanctions: contravention fines in the amount of 25,000 lei, temporary stoppage of the provision of services, proposal for the permanent closure of the unit”it is specified in a press release of the National Authority for Consumer Protection (ANPC), according to Agerpres.
The list of deficiencies found on the spot includes: lack of authorizations specific to the field of activity; the existence, in the yard of the unit, of an improvised/unauthorized food block; the existence, among the people accommodated for care, of some people under the age of 65; the use of expired medicines; the use of food products with an expired consumption date and without identification elements; the existence, in the unauthorized food block, of live and inert insects; the use of stained mattresses and beds without linen; lack of anti-insect nets.
At the same time, the hygienic-sanitary conditions were precarious (unhygienic floor, dirty walls, bathrooms with tiles and broken tiling/missing elements, staircase with cracked/broken glass steps), and information to the residents (menu, prices) was missing.
Also, in the yard of the unit there were abandoned cars, piles of scrap metal, waste, construction materials, stored in close proximity to the beneficiaries.
Following the control action, the County Commissioner for Consumer Protection (CJPC) Ilfov notified the criminal investigation bodies regarding this case.
The control action was carried out in collaboration with representatives of the National Veterinary Sanitary and Food Safety Authority (ANSVSA) and the Public Health Directorate (DSP).
