The President of the PNL, Nicolae Ciucă, said on Thursday, in Piatra Neamț, that the choice of the candidate for the Capital City Hall depends to a large extent on the results of the opinion polls, conducted by PSD and PNL. However, an option that is taking shape more and more is that of a joint candidate between the two parties.

Ciucă clarified that the topic of the nomination for the Bucharest City Hall will not be addressed in the coalition meeting on Monday, until the results of the polls are known.
“We will not discuss this aspect until we have the results of the polls. Each of the two parties decided to have nominations for the survey measurement and when we have these results, we will also discuss the nomination for the candidate for the Capital City Hall. We agreed that, depending on the confidence that the citizens will express in the polls, we should choose the option of either one party or the other or, probably, to ensure our victory in the Capital, to have a candidate that both parties support“, he said.
Regarding the nomination of the candidate for the position of president of Romania, Ciucă stated that this topic is not clear at the moment either.
“That's another story I haven't gotten the hang of,”
emphasized the leader of the National Liberal Party.
Nicolae Ciucă also added that in Monday's coalition meeting, topics related to governance will be discussed: “We have to get out of this phase where all attention – and it is normal to be like this – is directed to how the first round of elections will be conducted and then the calendar until December. At the same time we have to take into account that we have a country to govern. At the coalition, subjects related to governance will be addressed.”
On Thursday, Nicolae Ciucă was present at the launch of the candidates for the positions of mayor in the municipalities of Piatra-Neamț and Roman and for the president of the County Council from the PNL Neamț.
