The MAI reports the massive online distribution of an AI-generated video showing a fake conflict between a priest and a gendarme in a church.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs announces that a fake video is circulating online, generated with the help of artificial intelligence, which falsely shows a confrontation between a priest and a gendarme in a place of worship.
In that video, a priest can be seen and heard who seems to reproach the gendarme for his presence in the church, using lines such as: “Not here, not in the Orthodox Church! I don’t know who sent you, but here we have love for each other and all for the Lord!”.
However, the Ministry of Internal Affairs states that such an incident did not take place and that the video material is a manipulated one, created specifically to mislead.
“In the online space there is a clip manipulated / generated with the help of artificial intelligence, which falsely suggests an incident between a priest and a gendarme inside a church. We specify that the images do not capture a real event and do not correspond to any intervention carried out by our structures. Please do not distribute this material and check the information exclusively from official sources”, the MAI sent on Facebook.
