Four counties in the country will have Hungarian prefects from the UDMR, according to the coalition agreement, and the changes will concern both the prefect and sub -prefect functions.

The UDMR branch in Mureș county nominated Antal Szabolcs Barabási as the new prefect of the county, transmitted the formation in a statement quoted by the site trantelex.ro.
According to the government coalition agreement, the UDMR will provide four prefects, so, in addition to Harghita and Covasna, the political formation will also be prefects in Mureș and Satu Mare counties, Maszol and Radio Marosvásárhely wrote.
Antal Szabolcs Barabási was previously Secretary of State at the Ministry of Agriculture and held management positions at several companies. His nomination will be presented to the Government, and the official appointment could take place later, the UDMR announced.
According to the reports in the press, the current Hungarian sub -prefect, Tamás Ferenc Altofter, will be appointed government commissioner for the position of prefect of Satu Mare county, while Sándor Petres will continue to exercise his prefect in Harghita county and István Ráduy will continue to continue to Exercise the function of prefect in Covasna county.
According to the coalition agreement, the prefect must belong to the same political parties as the president of the County Council. In four counties, the president of the County Council is from the UDMR, so the prefect in these counties will also be from the UDMR.
In addition, the Alliance will provide twelve sub-prefects instead of ten, and, besides Bucharest, Fehér, Brașov, Hunedoara, Bihor, Maramureș, Cluj-Napoca, Mureș, Bistrița and Satu Mare, will be able to nominate under prefects in Arad and counties Sălaj.
The prefect is the local representative of the Government, responsible for the supervision of the local application of the decrees and government decisions, with the county administration and with the mediation between the Government and the local administrations.
