The U Cluj sports club made an unusual promotion campaign among the students of “Babes-Bolyai” University and UMF. Their promotional package contained, among other things, a student card with… the chants of the gallery.

In an attempt to attract as many young people as possible to the stadium, U Cluj took advantage of the start of the academic year and announced, on its Facebook account, a promotion campaign, in which it distributed free packages for students. They contained an invitation to the next home match of the Cluj team, with Oțelul Galați, a supporter’s t-shirt and a “student card” with the gallery’s songs.
“To welcome first-year students to the “U family”, we have 1919 welcome packages that we offer free of charge to freshmen. Each package contains the necessary “student card” with the gallery’s songs, a U Cluj supporter’s t-shirt and an invitation to our match with Oțelul Galați, which will take place on Friday, October 18, 2024, from 21:00, at the Cluj Arena” , announced the football club on its Facebook account.
As part of this campaign, which started on the 12th and ends on the 18th of October, 1919 free packages for students were to be distributed, the number not being random, but suggesting the year in which the club from Cluj was born.
By chance, however, club officials claim, among several songs of the team’s gallery such as “First step to the stadium” or “Glory to you, student”, a few duller lawn chants crept into the “student cards”.
“When you catch a female student,/Who is also eminent,/You undress her and seduce her,/You don’t give up until no….. Salalalala”, is one of the prompts of the sports club in the student card.

Mihai Moga, brand manager at Cluj University, immediately explained the situation, apologized on behalf of the club and specified that all “student cards” containing such “exhortations” were withdrawn.
“We regret the situation. The gallery songbook lyrics were provided by supporters for this campaign. There are two versions of that book, and unfortunately, due to a regrettable error, the “clean” version was not sent to print. We apologize to those who were affected and those who felt disturbed, it is an unpleasant situation for which the partners involved in the campaign are not to blame.
The campaign was highly appreciated and will continue, for now without the said print, which has already been withdrawn from distribution. In no time, the correct version will be printed, which will then be fed back into the distribution process within the campaign. We thank those who promptly brought the error to our attention and allowed us to quickly correct it.” Mihai Moga sent.
