The President of Romania, Nicușor Dan, obtained the first position in the state from the position of independent, but now he is forced to strengthen his power in the coalition parties.

The recent meeting between Cătălin Drulǎ, transported as the USR candidate to the Capital City Hall, and Nicușor Dan, is meant to raise the share of the potential candidate, but also to show the president to a party to support him.
Support in coalition
President Nicușor Dan has, first of all, need to support the parties in government, explains the editor-in-chief Ion M. Ioniță for “Adevărul”: “No president can exercise his mandate with results unless he has government support and obviously support in Parliament. Thus it would be a president who would have very little maneuver and, practically, failed to implement his programs, the ideas with which he came to Cotroceni. That is why it needs a collaboration with the government and needs a parliamentary, not direct, but to support government initiatives.
Of course I also had periods when it was cohabitation. The president was forced to govern with opposition parties, who were in opposition. But for Nicușor Dan it is important now to have a support. And of those who can give him support, obviously the USR is the party closest to the president. ”
The strategy for the following choices
The parliamentary elections of 2028, as well as the course of the Bolojan Government will indicate the strategy for the presidentials of 2030. “If things were going well, of course we could see a support of the PNL.Ion M. Ioniță also explains.
In the perspective of parliamentary elections, the outline of an alliance between USR and PNL could prove favorable, stresses political George Jiglău: “In the USR, from the departure of Nicușor Dan, then after the family referendum, some camps have been outlined. The figures have changed a little. It was Cătălin Drulă, Mrs. Lăcni came, I think in her case we can talk about a failure in the end, even if things looked better. It has returned to a situation where what is happening within the party and at the top of the party is in, I would not even say the direct control of Nicușor Dan, but he has a great influence there. So, I expect things to work in this way. If he succeeds, here I think it’s a big stake. I think that’s what he wants. (…)
I believe that the movement that Nicușor Dan wants in the perspective of 2028 is a proximity, going at least to the electoral alliance, if not more, between PNL and USR. Because with Ilie Bolojan, it is clear that such a partnership has been outlined, say, politically. They put together their political capital together for all this period of changes. Even if Bolojan, of course, may settle more, being prime minister, and is the one who appears to announce various increases, what happens during this period, but it is clear that Nicușor Dan supports all this movement. So if it passes now, so to speak, a small wave of dissatisfaction, about next year at this time, things will already have to be outlined for 2028 ”.
An important first step will be the autumn elections for the Capital City Hall. “Probably Bolojan will be required, if this is the understanding with Nicușor Dan, to leave Drulă. But the choice is complicated because Ciucu is in a better position than the dul. Sure, the world knows Drulă that he was also a minister, he was president at the USR, but still the image of Drulă is rather attached to a political failure, in the European Parliamentary elections after he resigned, towards Ciucu who kept his town hall ”, Politicologist George Jiglău also explains, pointing out that it will be difficult for liberals to give up this position.
