Anti-timer intervention in a town in Galati county, at risk of flooding: workers broke a road to divert the water

The authorities from Galați county urgently intervene, Monday evening, in Barcea commune, Podoleni village, after a drainage channel that undercuts the county road DJ 252 got clogged, and there is a risk of flooding in the households in the area.

The president of the Galaţi County Council, Costel Fotea, announced that, due to the massive water leaks coming from upstream, the situation had become critical, and the water could reach the yards and houses of the locals.

“Emergency intervention works, now, in Barcea commune, Podoleni village. This evening we urgently intervened on DJ 252. Due to large water leaks coming from upstream, there was a risk that water would enter people’s households and cause flooding”. Costel Fotea sent.

In order to prevent floods, the county authorities decided to build a transversal bridge that would allow the controlled flow of water.

Thus, traffic on DJ 252 will be temporarily affected, the road will be uncovered on a portion and rebuilt after the completion of the works.

“To prevent this, we decided to build a transverse bridge that would allow the controlled flow of water from a drainage channel. For this purpose, the road will be temporarily broken, to be rebuilt after the completion of the bridge. The intervention is necessary to protect the households and the safety of the residents of the area”said Fotea.

The authorities appeal to drivers to show understanding during the works, given the urgent nature of the intervention.

According to estimates, the execution time for the new bridge is about five days.

The area will continue to be monitored, and the intervention teams remain on alert, depending on the evolution of the hydrological conditions.
