The Academy of Economic Studies in Bucharest is first in Romania in the International Times Higer Education 2026 ranking, dedicated to universities. Globally, Oxford University maintains its supremacy for the tenth consecutive year.

ASE Bucharest retains the first place between the Romanian universities (22 included in the analysis), for the seventh consecutive year, in the Times Higer Education World University Rankings. Worldwide, ASE Bucharest occupies the position 801–1,000, out of a total of 2,191 analyzed universities, from 115 countries.

ASE, the leader of the higher economic, business and public administration in Romania and South-East Europe, thus confirms its status as the most prestigious university in the country in the evaluation of Times Higer Education, which measures global academic excellence, ” shows representatives of the higher education institution.

Times Higer Education World University Rankings is one of the most complex global university performance assessments, analyzing the results of universities based on five main pillars, with the following weights in total:

– Teaching (teaching and learning environment) – 29.5%

– Research Environment (volume, income and reputation) – 29%;

– Research Quality (influence and scientific impact) – 30%;

– Industry (knowledge transfer) – 4%;

– International Outlook (personal, students and international collaborations) – 7.5%.

Oxford, first in the top of The Top for the tenth year in a row

In the Times Higer Education 2026, Oxford, the educational institution preferred by many of the Olympians of Romania, retains its first place for the tenth consecutive year, due to the powerful research environment, the website shows. Princeton climbs the third place, equal to the University of Cambridge, and is the only university in the US to achieve the best result in history this year. China has five universities in the top 40, compared to three last year, but the top universities remain stable. Hong Kong occupies a record number of six seats in the top 200, as a result of improvements made to teaching indicators, and India now has the second largest number of universities ranked, for the first time, after the US, the ranking makers shows.

Here’s what the Top 10 Mondial according to the Times Higer Education 2026 looks like:

3. Princeton University (US);

3. University of Cambridge (United Kingdom);

5. Harvard University (USA);

7. California Institute of Technology (USA);

8. Imperial College London (United Kingdom);

10. Yale University (USA).

Only two of the Romanian universities analyzed in The 2026 top are located in the first half of the ranking: ASE Bucharest-801-1,000 places, respectively the “Carol Davila” University of Medicine and Pharmacy-also the places 801-1,000.
