Coco Gauff won the Tournament of Champions on Saturday after defeating Qinwen Zheng in three sets, 3-6, 6-4, 7-6 (2). The third player in the world was even surprised by how much money she will receive as a result of the success: 4.8 million dollars, the biggest prize ever offered to a player in the WTA.

After a marathon match, which lasted a little over 3 hours, Coco Gauff managed to turn the result around and prevail in the tie-break decider, ticking off the 54th victory of this and the 9th title of his career. The 20-year-old athlete became the youngest WTA Finals champion in recent decades.

After her triumphant run at the Champions Tour, in which she defeated the top two players in the world, Aryna Sabalenka and Iga Swiatek, the American will receive an incredible amount: 4.8 million dollars. The tennis player was amazed when she found out the value of the award, at the press conference: “I knew there was some money at stake, but I had no idea it was this much… $4.8 million is a lot of money…“, said Coco Gauff in front of the journalists present in Riyadh.
