Christmas and New Year fall in the middle of the week this year, so the government could set a few extra days off to make up for the weekends.
At the end of the year, we could have two mini-vacations. Archive photo
As the first day of Christmas falls on a Wednesday, and the next day is a public holiday, it is possible to decide at the government level that there will be no work on Friday, December 27, either, in order to connect with the weekend . As such, we could enjoy a 5-day mini-vacation.
And on New Year’s Eve there are chances that we will have a mini-holiday, this time even longer, of seven free days. January 1st and 2nd, i.e. Wednesday and Thursday, are free. Legally, it remains for the Government to approve January 3rd as a day off and thus bridge the weekend. Next is Monday and Tuesday, that is, on January 6 and 7, respectively, that is, Epiphany and Saint John the Baptist, when there are two other legal days off, which means a mini-holiday of a week in total.
