“Atlas of the Universe”, the first Romanian film for children awarded at the Berlin International Film Festival

“The Atlas of the Universe”, directed by Paul Negoescu, received today the Special Mention of the international jury of the Berlinale Generation Kplus, the competitive section dedicated to children’s films of the Berlin International Film Festival, the 76th edition.

Written by Mihai Mincan and Paul Negoescu, the feature film “Atlas of the Universe” had its world premiere in Berlin, where it was appreciated by the public and film critics alike for its special story, the talent of the actors, music, sound and image. And the award from the Berlinale, a mention offered for special achievements, also confirms the appreciation of the international jury. “We are very happy that our film was viewed and received so warmly by a wonderful audience at this extraordinary festival,” said director Paul Negoescu.

A sensitive adventure about courage, friendship and self-discovery, “Universe Atlas” follows a ten-year-old boy who, after mistakenly buying two shoes for his right foot, embarks on a journey to find his left.

The protagonist of the film is Matei Donciu, a talented 11-year-old child, on his first cinematic experience. The cast also includes the actors Marin Grigore, Andreea Grămoșteanu, Andrei Mateiu, along with the children Johanna Mild, Călin Petru, Sofia Marinescu and many others. The image is signed by Ana Drăghici, and Mihai Codleanu is the editor of the film. Iulia and Victor Fulicea took care of the scenography and costumes. Marius Leftărache signs the music and sound design. The casting director of the film was Florentina Bratfanof.
