Baccalaureate 2024, results after appeals. Over 90% of the grades were wrong and altered

The Baccalaureate 2024 results, after the appeals, came with a major surprise: over 90% of the grades challenged by the students were wrong and later modified by the evaluating teachers.

Almost 49,000 grades from Baccalaureate 2024, June-July session, were wrong and changed after appeals, the Ministry of Education reports in a press release published after the announcement of the final results.

Out of 51,373 appeals, 48,896 were amended. In percentage terms, 95.1% of grades were wrong and corrected on appeals and only 5% of grades remained unchanged. “51,373 appeals were submitted (54,632 – in the similar session last year, 49,115 appeals – in 2022, respectively 55,980 appeals – in 2021).

Of this total, 21,770 appeals concerned grades in the Romanian language and literature, 592 appeals were in the mother tongue, 14,694 appeals in the mathematics and history test and 14,317 appeals were registered in the profile choice test.

“After going through the reevaluation procedure, for 48,896 papers the initial marks were changed (plus or minus, according to the methodology)”, announces the Ministry of Education.

As a result of the corrections, the passing rate of the exam also increased. This is now over 78%.

The number of students increased by 10

59 candidates who took the 2024 Baccalaureate exam, June-July session, obtained an average of 10, after the appeals were resolved, according to the results published by the Ministry of Education. Initially, when the initial results were published there were only 39 candidates with an average of 10. In 2024, the number of averages of 10 in the national Baccalaureate exam is the lowest since 2014.
