Baccalaureate 2025. How the Modena Language exam will be conducted

The exam includes written, audio and oral tests, with a different duration for each section.

Competences Modern language, listening test

The listening test aims to evaluate the understanding of some listened texts and lasts 20 minutes. Candidates will listen to two different audio materials, each twice. Students then have one minute to read the questions on the first material, followed by two hearings of it, separated by a one-minute break.

After another two minutes in which you finalize the answers related to the first material and read the questions related to the second, the two hearings of the second material follow, separated by a one-minute break, according to the procedure sent by ministry.

Candidates will receive their assignments immediately after the assistant reads the instructions in Romanian or their native language, for each exam room, and no interruptions are allowed during the hearing.

The audio files and topics required for the listening test are provided by the National Center for Policy and Evaluation in Education and are prepared for use according to the equipment available in each educational unit. If CD players are used, the files are burned to CDs, and for computers, they are available on each device.

Competences Modern language, written test

The written test, which lasts 120 minutes, is conducted in two parts. The first part assesses the ability to understand a read text, and the second part checks the ability to produce written messages. Each teacher assessor will give a score, and the final score is calculated as the average of the two grades, rounded in favor of the candidate in case of a fraction of 0.50 points.

Competences Modern language, oral test

The oral test lasts between 10 and 15 minutes for each candidate and assesses both oral message production and oral interaction. Each ticket in the oral test contains questions of progressive difficulty, and the final score, calculated as the average of the two marks given by the teachers, is rounded in favor of the candidate in case of fractions of 0.50 points. In addition, changing the exam ticket is not allowed.

The language proficiency level in the modern language is written on the back of the 2025 baccalaureate diploma and on the language proficiency certificate.
