Simona Halep found out her opponent at the first tournament in which the Romanian is playing after an 18-month break, caused by the suspension for doping. Halep will face Paula Badosa in the opening round. The match will take place on March 19 or 20, at a time to be announced by the organizers.

Our athlete will play her first match after more than a year and a half break against Paula Badosa, now ranked 73rd in the WTA, but who also reached second place in the world ranking in her career. Iberica is also playing after receiving a wild-card into the Miami tower. If she manages to get past the Iberian, the Romanian will duel in the 2nd round with Aryna Sabalenka, the current player ranked 2nd in the WTA.
Like Simona Halep, Ana Bogdan and Jaqueline Cristian will also start the competition in round 1. Ana will face Katerina Siniakova, while Jaqueline will meet Diane Parry. Sorana Cîrstea is seeded and will have a free first round. In the 2nd round, the Romanian will face the winner of the match between Sloane Stephens and Angelique Kerber.
