Bayern Munich will give up the services of coach Thomas Tuchel after the end of this season, the German football club announced on Wednesday.

Tuchel was appointed to the position at the end of March 2023, when he replaced Julian Nagelsmann, who had meanwhile become the coach of Germany. He then signed a contract valid until June 30, 2025, which will, however, end a year earlier.
“In the course of a good, open discussion, we reached the decision to mutually terminate our employment relationship this summer. Our goal is to follow a new football direction with a new head coach for the 2024-2025 season“, stated the leader of the Bayern club, Jean-Christian Dreesen, in a press release issued by the Munich club.
Former coach of Borussia Dortmund, Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea London, Thomas Tuchel is currently under great pressure at Bayern, after three consecutive defeats.
Bayern Munich, who have won the German championship for the past eleven years, are currently second in the table, eight points adrift of leaders Bayer Leverkusen, with less and less chance of retaining the title at the end of the season.
The Bavarians were defeated in the last two matches in the Bundesliga, by Bayer Leverkusen (0-3) and VfL Bochum (2-3), also losing the away game against Lazio Roma (0-1) in the Champions League.
The Allianz Arena outfit risk ending their first season without a trophy since 2012 after being knocked out of the German Cup last month by third division side FC Saarbruecken.
However, Thomas Tuchel's men will be hoping to reverse the result in the second leg with Lazio Roma on March 5 to reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
