BEC registered the electoral alliance “Romania forward” that supports Crin Antonescu

The Central Electoral Bureau (BEC) decided to admit the registration of the protocol for setting up the electoral alliance “Romania before”, established by the parties from the government coalition, PSD, PNL and UDMR, in order to support Crin Antonescu’s candidacy for the presidential elections.

The decision was taken in the BEC meeting on Saturday, February 22, when it was also adopted the decision regarding the approval of the Regulation for the organization and functioning of the electoral offices set up for the election of the President of Romania from 2025.

The leaders of the parties of the government coalition signed the protocol of the Alliance on Wednesday, February 19, following a meeting at Victoria Palace. The alliance is also supported by the parliamentary group of national minorities.

“At the national level the electoral alliance formed by the Social Democratic Party, the National Liberal Party and the Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania is still called the Alliance, for participating in the election organized on May 4, 2025 for the election of the President of Romania. The Alliance is legally represented, as follows: from the Social Democratic Party by Ion-Marcel Ciolacu, as president, from the National Liberal Party by Marian-Cătălin Predoiu, as interim president, and from the Hungarian Democratic Union in Romania by Kelemen Hunor, as president ”, it is shown in the protocol of the alliance.

The electoral sign of the “Romania before” Alliance

The full name of the Alliance is “the Romanian electoral alliance”, and the shortened name is “A.ro”.

The electoral sign of the alliance is represented by a symbolic ensemble framed in a square that represents: on the left side, the graphics of three rose buds that are based on the stems registered the name of the PSD; On the right, a symbolic assembly composed of: a quadrilateral in which the arrow is inserted at an angle of 45 °, with the tip directed to the right upper corner of the quadrilateral, surrounded by twelve stars, under which the PNL name is registered.

In the middle, a symbolic ensemble composed of: stylized tulip and abbreviations of the name of the Hungarian Democratic Union in Romania (UDMR), respectively in Hungarian (RMDSZ), included in a rectangular framework.

The decisions of the alliance are mandatory for all members and organizations/branches of component political formations. The management is provided by the three presidents, of the PSD, PNL and UDMR.

“The possible contradictions between the three political formations are subject to attention, for settlement, to the leaders of the component parties”it is also specified in the document.
