According to the Belgian media, midfielder Radja Nainggolan, 36, would be involved in a drug importation network from South America.

The charge is very serious: drug smuggling. Cocaine imported from South America was trafficked through the port of Antwerp. The goods were then distributed throughout the country. Radja Nainggolan, former player at Inter, Roma, Cagliari and Spal, was arrested this morning, the Belgian press announced, news confirmed by the Brussels Prosecutor’s Office.
A prosecutor responded to the media this morning: “As part of a file related to organized crime by the Brussels Public Prosecutor’s Office, entrusted to an investigating judge, the Federal Judicial Police carried out on Monday – January 27, 2025 – 30 house searches, mainly in the province of Antwerp, in Brussels and in the suburbs of the Belgian capital“. Radja Nainggolan’s is among the 30 houses searched.
The former midfielder had returned to play just a few days ago in the Belgian second division, at Lokeren. The arrest and interrogation took place this morning. The Brussels prosecutor added: “As inquiries are ongoing and in accordance with the principle of presumption of innocence, no further comment will be made in this regard“.
It is not the first time that Radja Nainggolan has been in trouble with the law: in 2022, in Antwerp, he was arrested for driving without a license, drunk and speeding.
