The Romanian Post warns of a new phishing campaign, in which attackers send fake SMS messages that appear to be from the company. The messages ask to access a link to complete the personal data necessary to deliver a package.

“The National Company “Poșta Română” draws the attention of all its customers to the latest phishing campaign that uses the company’s identity to deceive users. In recent days, numerous cases have been reported in which attackers send SMS messages – smishing that appear to be from Poșta Română, asking recipients to access a link to fill in personal data necessary to deliver a parcel.“, it is stated in a statement posted on the website of the Romanian Post company.
The Romanian National Post Company advises all those who receive such messages not to respond to requests.
“Careful! The messages contain a shortened link (short URL) that redirects users to a website that visually imitates the official page of the Romanian Post. The purpose of this fake page is to collect sensitive information such as personal data or financial details of victims.”, the Romanian Post also says.
If you receive such a message, it is important not to act impulsively: read the message carefully and check the suspicious details, do not open the message and immediately mark it as Spam.
Avoid accessing links in SMS that ask for personal information and report the incident to the National Cyber Security Directorate (DNSC) at https://dnsc.ro/contact.
Romanian Post emphasizes that it does not ask for confidential bank information, card numbers or PIN codes, online payments for delivery and advises all customers to be extremely vigilant.
