Access by bicycles/scooters to the metro network will also be allowed in the time interval 11:00 – 14:00, on working days, between July 15 – September 15, 2026, in addition to the intervals already provided for in the regulation, 20:00 – 23:00, respectively permanently on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.
“Metrorex announces the launch of a pilot project intended for users of bicycles and scooters. Between July 15 and September 15, 2026, on weekdays, access with bicycles/scooters to the metro network is allowed and in the time interval 11:00 – 14:00, in addition to the intervals already provided for in the regulation, 20:00 – 23:00, respectively permanently on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays”, the company announced on Friday.
Access with bicycles/scooters is allowed in the dedicated area, i.e. at the first carriage in the direction of travel of the train, in the area behind the driver’s cabin, users having the obligation to use the first access door in the direction of travel. The owners of bicycles/scooters have the obligation to ensure their proper positioning so that the safety and comfort of other passengers is not affected.
The access of bicycles used for commercial delivery or freight transport activities, as well as bicycles equipped with boxes, containers, trailers or other accessories intended for the transport of goods, which exceed the dimensions of a normal bicycle or may affect the safety, circulation or comfort of passengers, is not allowed.
“Through this pilot project, Metrorex aims to encourage the use both the metro, as a means of transport with a low impact on the environment, and the bicycle, as part of a modern and sustainable urban mobility. Choosing the metro for daily trips contributes to reducing traffic and pollution, while offering, at the same time, a fast, safe and efficient transport solution”says Metrorex.
