In the latest round of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s ongoing litigation over the former couple’s French vineyard/winery Château Miravel, the two are battling over the actress’ demand that Pitt turn over communications related to a 2016 incident , according to CNN, communications that would result in abuse to which she would have been subjected.

“These private, third-party communications are far removed from the issues and allegations in this case and, in many cases, have only the faintest connection to ‘what happened on that plane.’ “However, Jolie wants them anyway as part of her efforts to turn this business dispute into a re-litigation of the former couple’s divorce case,” according to a court document filed in court by Pitt’s lawyers, obtained by CNN.
In a separate filing, Pitt’s lawyers named the claim “oppressive and harassing” . In their initial motion, the actor’s lawyers argued that he “volunteered to produce sufficient documents to show everything that happened on the flight that precipitated the former couple’s divorce.”
“Jolie, however, rejected Pitt’s compromise and proposed to compel him to communicate with third parties – including his most trusted advisers – about sensitive matters such as the therapy he undertook in voluntarily after the flight incident, (…) > to which he would have been subjected, his alleged > and other actions taken following the flight.”Brad Pitt’s legal representatives also showed.
Angelina Jolie’s lawyer talks about potential evidence related to Brad Pitt’s 2021 request for a nondisclosure agreement in his failed bid to buy her share of the winery that would be “central to these proceedings”.
“We are not at all surprised that Mr Pitt is afraid to hand over the documents proving these facts. As Angelina once again pleads with Mr. Pitt to end the fight and finally put their family on a clear path to healing, if Mr. Pitt doesn’t drop his lawsuit, Angelina has no choice but to get the evidence she needs to prove that his accusations are wrong”the actress’ lawyer told CNN in a statement on Wednesday.
Pitt and Jolie have been, since 2016, trapped in a tense web of legal proceedings. The two have been declared legally separated since 2019, but their divorce is still not finalized.
About the incident on the plane, in which the actress says she was physically assaulted
Details surrounding the private jet incident the actress is referring to emerged in August 2022, when an FBI report, provided to CNN by a source at the time, revealed that Jolie accused Pitt of physically assaulting her and verbally abusing their children while they were on the private jet, in 2016 while flying to the US from France.
We recall that the actress’s lawyers claim that the Fight Club star started screaming, accusing her of being “too subject to children”, and soon after, Pitt “pulled her into the bathroom” behind the plane.
“Pitt grabbed Jolie by the head and shook her, then grabbed her by the shoulders and shook her again before pushing her into the bathroom wall”the file shows:
“Pitt then punched the ceiling of the plane several times, prompting Jolie to exit the bathroom”.
After a child intervened verbally, Pitt would fand “lashed out at his own child”, and Jolie “he then grabbed him from behind to stop him“, according to court documents.
Brad Pitt became the focus of an investigation related to that incident, but was never charged or arrested, according to an FBI statement at the time, according to CNN.
The dispute between the two over the Miravel vineyard/winery (which they purchased together in 2008 when they were a couple) began in February 2022, when Brad Pitt sued Angelina Jolie and her former company, Nouvel LLC, for what he believed to be the sale “illegal” of her participation.
Who did Angelina Jolie sell her share of the Château Miravel property to?
In October 2021, Jolie sold the company Nouvel LLC and her stake in the winery to Tenute del Mondo, a subsidiary of the Stoli Group, controlled by Russian oligarch Yuri Shefler.
Brad Pitt claims that he and Jolie agreed when they bought the winery that neither would sell their share without the other’s consent. According to a later 2023 court filing, Pitt’s lawyers called Jolie’s sale “vengeful” after a “adverse decision on custody”, CNN reports.
In September 2022 Nouvel LLC filed a countersuit against Brad Pitt accusing him of “wage a vengeful war against” to Jolie and claims that no such agreement ever existed and that, moreover, Jolie tried to sell her share of the winery to Pitt, but this could not be done because of a provision in a settlement agreement. PRIVACY “intended to prohibit Jolie from speaking publicly about the events that led to the breakdown of their marriage.”
