Former presidential candidate Călin Georgescu avoided giving a concrete answer about his sources of income during a show on Realitatea TV, categorizing questions about his financial situation as “gossip” and “revenge of the system”. Instead, he declared that his family was “persecuted” but would run for president again.
Asked about his source of livelihood, Georgescu refused to answer.
“God holds us all. And me, but also you, and those who ask these questions, not for the sake of having an answer, but because they like gossip. Therefore, I am not interested in such a thing and I continue to tell you that all these revenges, to spuIn this way, the system does not honor me before Godhe said.
During a show on Realitatea TV, Călin Georgescu stated that his family is still being persecuted as a result of his candidacy and that he will resist these pressures.
“With dignity. On the other hand, the more and greater the injustices are, the greater the honor that God does to me and to us as a family. On the other hand, sure, this injustice would be about me, but also about us, as a family. On the other hand, injustice is the order of the day, as you know in Romania. And there are not hundreds, not thousands, there are tens of thousands of people who suffer in this country of ours for the simple fact that they wanted to be free.
But the injustice is also before, as you know, before December 6. And I can only say this, that if I had been the official president of Romania then, Romania would have breathed through justice, because justice represents the lungs of civilization. A Romania as a civilization, for 2000 years, left justice”said Georgescu.
The former candidate stated that he does not regret his candidacy and that he would repeat the same approach.
“Certainly yes. It was worth it because, on the one hand, I took this step that I would take at any time, again from the beginning, as well, for my estates and ancestors, for everything that the tumultuous history of this country meant, for what the sword of Mihai Viteazul meant in 1600, who made the union by the sword, for what Alexandru Ioan Cuza meant in 1859, the greatest statesman who gave Romania in the course of time It means Mărăști, Mărășești, Oituz, the Romanian peasant in opinci or in bare feet, who gave his life for us to have destiny, and there was blood up to the horse’s hoof, so that we can speak freely today.
It was also worth it for the only man in this country, who during this period wanted to be free. For one man, one alone, if he wished to be free, it is worth it. And then, really, I also learned a lot during this time. I learned humility, that is, by far, the fact that you cannot be superior to someone else, the courage to face any situation and the wisdom, especially, to remain silent in the face of the stupidity of others. Crossing a line, I tell you this much: I refuse to live without honor”Georgescu also said.
