“I find the concern for PR a little exaggerated to the detriment of real administrative activity and this I think has affected yesterday’s decision regarding the closing of the schools. Today, hundreds of thousands of parents were awakened in Bucharest, with children they had to keep at home. For those who are not from Bucharest, today it was a rainy day. It was materialized by a danger, that here the world could say, sir, but where did you know that it did not happen? said Cătălin Drulă in the Political Romania show, broadcast on the first news.
The USR leader stressed that the measure had important consequences on the inhabitants of the capital and suggested that the authorities should have apologized for the created discomfort.
Drulă accused the interim mayor of the capital, Stelian Bujduveanu, of taking advantage of the context to make his image: “He jumped a lot about the opportunity of this crisis, is a bit in the campaign Mr. Bujduveanu and solves a channel cover on Tiktok … not a problem. I would like to do as much as possible, but our attribution as state people is to make cold decisions and based on existing data.”
The USR deputy concluded that, according to the updated forecasts of the ANM of the previous day, the amount of precipitation estimated for Bucharest had decreased significantly, and the danger initially not justified.
Asked about the role of the prefect of the Capital in making the decision, Drula explained that he was not the one who imposed the measure, but only participated in the vote within the Emergency Committee.
The Barbara Mediterranean cyclone hit Romania with torrential rains and major flood risks.
