Ben Affleck – He has given up alcohol for over 27 years
Actor Ben Affleck has spoken openly about his struggle with alcoholism. He gave up drinking in 1997, but admits it wasn’t an easy battle. It seems that the actor crossed the threshold of detoxification in recent years as well.
“I just wanted to stop” he told a reporter in 1998. “I started to regret some of the things I did when I was drunk.”
“It’s funny to be obnoxious or out of control, but then it’s like, I think I hurt that person’s feelings / I made fun of myself or I didn’t want to kiss this girl. I have almost no inhibitions, so it’s dangerous for me.”
He sought specialist help for alcoholism in 2001 and went to rehab again in 2017 and 2018 after Jennifer Garner, his partner at the time, organized an intervention with the help of a specialist at his home.
In an interview with The New York Times in 2020, Ben Affleck explained: “I drank relatively normally for a long time. What happened was that I started drinking more and more when my marriage fell apart.”
Lily Allen – Alcohol free for almost 5 years
And Lily Allen opened up about her struggle with drinking earlier this year, explaining that her dedication to staying sober comes from knowing what she stands to lose if she drinks again.

The 39-year-old singer has always been open about her alcohol and drug abuse, saying kicking those addictions was the best decision she ever made.
She has been sober for nearly five years, previously revealing that her last drink was on July 28, 2019.
Lily explained in a podcast that she is motivated to not drink alcohol because of all the good things she has in her life.
Chrissy Teigen – A tumultuous road to healing
Model and TV personality Chrissy Teigen, 39, became sober in December 2020 after admitting her alcohol addiction “started to become embarrassing.” Unfortunately, he ran into trouble and started drinking again.
In July 2021, Chrissy, wife of musician John Legend, began her healing journey again.
Marking a year without alcohol, in an Instagram post she revealed: “I miss feeling carefree and carefree sometimes.”
Chrissy added: “I drank to end the crazy anxiety, which later mostly went away when I quit drinking!“
“Anyway, I feel really good. Sometimes I get very frustrated looking back on days that I should be able to remember much better than I do because of the alcohol.”
