After four years of absence from the stage, due to health problems, Celin Dion sang again on Friday evening, at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games.

I am honored to have performed tonight for the Paris 2024 opening ceremony and so excited to be back in one of my favorite cities. Most of all, I am so happy to celebrate these extraordinary athletes, with all their stories of sacrifice and determination, pain and perseverance”, wrote Celine Dion on her account on the X social network.

“You’ve all been so focused on your dream and whether you go home with a medal or not, I hope that being here means that it has come true for you. You should all be so proud, because we know how hard you’ve worked to be the best of the best. Stay focused, keep going, my heart is with you“, added the star.

Celine Dion performed “L’Hymne a l’amour”, by Edith Piaf, from one of the floors of the Eiffel Tower, to the delight of the spectators and officials present at the ceremony, as well as millions of viewers around the world.

Celine Dion was diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome (SPS) in 2022, a rare neurological disorder characterized by progressive muscle stiffness and repeated episodes of painful muscle spasms. This neurological disorder affects the mobility and flexibility of the body.

What’s more, the artist had to give up numerous shows, including the Courage world tour, which was supposed to take place in May 2023.
