We remind you that Celine Dion was diagnosed two years ago with a rare autoimmune and neurological disorder, also called rigid person syndrome. This neurological disorder affects the mobility and flexibility of the body.
What's more, the artist had to give up numerous shows, including the Courage world tour, which was supposed to take place in May 2023.
When the pain became unbearable, she confessed that she “canceled shows, found myself lying, taking medication. Maybe I'll try an anti-inflammatory, an antispasmodic or something“.
“I started with small things and ended up with very dangerous drugs to continue“, she confessed in an interview conducted in May, in Las Vegas.
She was later asked by journalist Anne-Claire Coudray if she resorted to “valium” (n.red diazepam). Celine Dion did not shy away from answering and confessed that “yes, among other things”.
“Without having a diagnosis. At first, it helps a little. But, very quickly, the doses had to be increased“, added the singer.
“And when you reach a dangerous level of medication and it no longer works, you have two options: keep going or stop breathing and it's over.
Don't live the pain alone. Agree to talk about it and consult. Don't suffer alone. I don't know when, but I will be back on stage”she also said.
