The government will approve the budget for the implementation of Romania’s Program for Schools, said Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu.

“We approve several projects for the preparation of the new school and academic year. We provide healthy food for nearly 1.9 million children from kindergarten and school: fruits, vegetables, dairy and bakery products. We continue this program also took place last school year. The total budget of the program exceeds 760 million lei, of which over 86 million lei represent European money“, declared Marcel Ciolacu, on Wednesday, in the Government meeting.
In this context, the prime minister also announced the allocation of funds for higher education infrastructure.
“In the university area, we are supporting the West University of Timişoara, the University of Oradea, as well as the Bucharest Polytechnic for the completion of the works on the student dormitories. The Ministry of Education will receive an additional 40 million lei necessary for the continuation of investments in the expansion of accommodation and educational spaces“, stated Ciolacu.
Structure of the 2024-2025 school year
From an administrative point of view, the school year starts on September 1, 2024 and ends on August 31, 2025. But the students will come to the banks on Monday, September 9, and they will finish the school year in the summer of next year, on June 20 to be exact.
Module I – September 9, 2024 – October 25, 2024.
Module II – November 4, 2024 – December 20, 2024.
Module III – January 8, 2025 and will take place until Friday, February 7, 2025, respectively Friday, February 14, 2025 or Friday, February 21, 2025. The date will be determined, as the case may be, at the decision of the county/municipality school inspectorates.
Module IV – February 17, 2025, respectively Monday, February 24, 2025 or Monday, March 3, 2025, at the decision of the school/county/municipality inspectorates of Bucharest and will take place, as the case may be, until Thursday, April 17, 2025.
Module V – April 28, 2025 – June 20, 2025.
The first vacation in the 2024-2025 school year calendar will begin on October 26, 2024 and last until November 3, 2024. This October vacation will be for both elementary school students, grades I-VIII, and high school students, grades IX-VII.
The second holiday in the structure of the 2024-2025 school year is the Christmas holiday. It will start on Saturday, December 21, 2024 and run until Tuesday, January 7, 2025.
The third holiday is the skiing holiday and will last a week. This holiday will start between February 10 and March 2, 2025, at the decision of the school/county/city inspectorates of Bucharest.
The fourth holiday in the structure of the school year 2024-2025 will begin on Friday, April 18, 2025 and will last until Sunday, April 27, 2025.
The 2025 summer vacation that ends the school year begins on Saturday, June 21, 2025 and will run until Sunday, September 7, 2025.
