The leaders of the coalition, Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu and Nicolae Ciucă, participated in the opening of the Black Sea Defense and Aerospace exhibition, and after delivering the speech, the two officials inspected the exhibited weapons.

At the event, the prime minister stated that the Romanian defense industry will bring impressive contracts worth billions of euros. “In the context of the bloody conflict in Ukraine, the revitalization of the national defense industry has become a priority of the government I lead.” explained the prime minister.

The Head of Government added that Romania today has the perspective that “the Romanian defense industry to bring, in a short time, impressive contracts and run billions of euros in the economy, developing tens and hundreds of other supply companies horizontally, and the best example is the fact that, today, at this event they will sign commercial agreements with important international partners”.

Ciolacu: “Romania has big projects already initialed”

“The Mechanical Plant in Cugir will produce weapons and armaments with NATO technology, together with a German company. Romarm and the American concern General Dynamics are developing a partnership for the modernization and development of new capacities for the production of large-caliber ammunition, to NATO standards. And Romaero, which many were already singing the praises of, returns as an important supplier of maintenance and repair services to Boeing and Airbus aircraft. It will sign a memorandum with a traditional partner from Hungary“, he added.

Beyond these agreements, there are large projects, already initialed with concerns from the United States, Germany, South Korea, France and many other countries, the prime minister also said.

Ciucă: “Defense begins at home”

For his part, the head of the PNL and leader of the Romanian Senate, Nicolae Ciucă, pointed out in a message sent on Facebook that “defense starts at home, where we have a duty to strengthen two essential directions: revitalizing the defense industry and adapting to today's threats.”

“Romania had a tradition in the area of ​​the defense industry, which we can resume. The planned investments in this area will strengthen the country's security and make us a security provider in the region. I am glad that Romania has the ability to organize events of such a caliber, BSDA being the largest exhibition of this kind organized in our country to date”Nicolae Ciucă also said.
