“The steps taken by the government they lead regarding the inclusion of Romania in the Visa Waiver program have registered irreversible success for Romanian citizens. Romania has fulfilled all the technical and political conditions. There is no doubt. Therefore, I call on those who scream on the fences and who have done nothing in their life for this country to speculate on the country to be a matter of fact that they have to speculate. Implementation of technical issues ”the prime minister said in a message on Facebook.
Marcel Ciolacu has harshly criticized the attempts to politicize Romania’s accession to the Visa Waiver program, warning that such statements risk affecting the efforts made so far.
“I understand that we are in the election campaign, but you do not play with the interests of Romania! We have entered Schengen and now in the Visa Waiver program with great efforts, we do not need all kinds of buffers to ruin everything now. Using this theme of meschine interests, strictly electoral, hurts both Romania and Romanian citizens”he added.
The statements come in the context in which the Washington Administration discuss the possibility of postponing the Visa Waiver program for two months for Romania.
The information was confirmed, in an official press response, by the US Internal Security Department.
Interim president Ilie Bolojan said that, by the end of March, the authorities will announce the date from which visa will be abandoned for Romanians traveling to America.
“I think that in the next period, until the end of this month, when this term exists, we will have a common communication of those involved, so as to show the date from which, practically, in force will be entered.”said Ilie Bolojan.
